UNIT 03 [기초 문법] 수 일치

1. 수일치란?

주어와 동사의 수를 일치 시키는 것 :
주어가 단수면 동사도 단수, 주어가 복수면 동사도 복수

단수 주어 : 명사(N) + 동사(V)s - is, has, wants, goes, was

복수 주어 : 명사(N)s + 동사(V) - are, have, want, go, were

단수주어는 3인칭 단수
복수주어는 3인칭 단수 빼고 나머지

• The restaurant has a great menu.
  그 레스토랑은 좋은 메뉴를 가지고 있다.

• All restaurants have great menus.
  모든 레스토랑은 좋은 메뉴를 가지고 있다.

❄︎ 한쪽에만 s가 들어가는 것처럼 보인다. ❄︎

2. 동명사구, to부정사구, that절, 의문사절

3인칭 단수 취급한다.
따라서 단수동사를 사용한다.

• Learning English is interesting.
  영어를 배우는 것은 재미있다.

• To play tennis is good for your health.
  테니스를 치는 것은 당신의 건강에 좋다.

• That you are a good person is true.
  당신이 좋은 사람이라는 것은 사실이다.

3. 꼭 기억해야 할 것들!

• 수일치는 현재 시제에서만 구분을 한다.
• 조동사, 미래 시제, 과거 시제는 수일치와 관련이 없다.
• 주어가 3인칭 단수일 때, 동사에 따라 -es또는 -s를 붙인다.

전명구는 덩어리째로 없애자. 의미적으로 필요하지만 구조적으로는 필요하지 않다.

4. 수식어

명사 + 수식어(구) + 동사

• 수식어(구)
  • 형용사, 부사,
  • 전명구
  • V-ing, p.p, to V

명사 뒤에 ‘,’가 있고 명사가 또 나오면 동격이다.

ed로 끝나면 동사이기 때문에 뒤에 목적어가 나와야되는데,
submitted 뒤에 목적어가 없으므로 분사라고 한다.
