UNIT 16 [실전 문법] 동사의 시제

1. 동사의 시제

1) 단순 시제 : 어떤 시점에서 일어나는 동작이나 상태
2) 진행 시제 : 어떤 시점에서 동작이나 상황이 계속해서 진행 중일 때
3) 완료 시제 : 어떤 시점에서 발생한 일이 특정 시점까지 영향을 미칠 때

2. 단순 시제

1) 현재 시제 : 일반적인 사실, 상태, 반복적인 습관 [형태 : V, Vs]

always, usually, sometimes, regularly
every/each + 시간명사

• I usually get up a 6 o’clock.
• I pay the rent at the end of every month.

2) 과거 시제 : 과거에 일어난 일 [형태 : V-ed]

last + 시간표현
시간표현 + ago
in + 과거시간(년도) / recently, lately

• I started learning Chinese last week.
• She left here a few days ago.
• I met Jinny yesterday.

3) 미래 시제 : 앞으로 일어날 일이나 상태 [형태 : will + 동사원형]

next + 시간
until/by + 미래 시간
tomorrow, soon, shortly

• I will wear that skirt next time.
• It will continue until next summer.
• I will attend the meeting tomorrow.

3. 완료 시제

1) 현재 완료 : 과거에 발생한 일이나 상태가 현재까지 영향을 미칠 때 [형태 : have p.p.]

since + 과거시점
for / over / in + the past + 기간
recently, lately

recently, lately는 과거 시제와도 어울리지만 현재완료와도 어울린다.

• The price of oil has increased significantly since 2012.
• I haven’t been there recently.

2) 과거 완료 : 과거 어떤 시점보다 더 앞서 일어난 일을 나타낼 때 [형태 : had p.p.]

Before 주어1 + 과거동사, 주어2 + 과거완료
After + 주어1 + 동사(과거/과거완료), 주어2 + 과거동사
By the time 주어1 + 과거동사, 주어2 + 과거완료

• Before the manager called me, Michael had already gone out.
• By the time we reached the meeting, they had already left.

3) 미래 완료 : 어떤 사건이나 동작이 미래의 어떤 시점에 완료될 것임을 나타낼 때 [형태 : will have p.p.]

next + 기간
by the time + 현재 시제

• When Jenis retires in 2016, she will have worked for 40 years.
• By the time I finish this project, I will have written over 30 pages.
