UNIT 07 [기초 문법] 준동사 - 동명사

1. 준동사란?

• 동사에서 비롯되어 문장 안에서 명사, 형용사, 부사 등으로 쓰이는 동사의 다른 꼴
• 동사지만, 동사 위치에는 쓸 수 없다.
• 동사는 아니지만, 동사의 의미를 그대로 가지고 있어서 ‘준동사’라고 부른다.

동사를 2번 쓰기 위해 V ing / V p.p / to 부정사 중에 하나를 쓴다.

2. 준동사 3인방

(1) 동명사 (doing)
(2) to부정사 (to do)
(3) 분사 (done, doing)

1) 동명사

• Arranging the meeting was difficult for me.
  회의를 준비하는 것은 나에게 어려웠다.

2) to부정사

• To arrange the meeting, I called him.
  회의를 준비하기 위해 나는 그에게 전화했다.

3) 분사

• I will attend the meeting arranged by your team.
  나는 당신 팀이 마련한 회의에 참석할 것이다.

어떤 걸 쓰는 지는 해석을 통해 파악한다.

3. 동명사란?

동사를 명사로 변형해서 쓰는 것

4. 동명사 형태

동사 + ing

• Michael suggested the book.
  마이클은 그 책을 추천했다.
• Michael suggedted reading the book.
  마이클은 그 책을 읽기를 추천했다.

5. 동명사의 위치

1) 주어

• Reading the book is good for you.
  책을 읽는 것은 당신에게 좋다.

2) 동사 뒤 목적어

• Michael recommended reading the book.
  마이클은 책 읽기를 권했다.

3) 전치사 뒤

• The importance of reading books cannot be emphasized enough.
  독서의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다.

4) 보어

• My hobby is reading a book.
  내 취미는 독서이다.

be동사는 원래 뒤에 형용사가 오는데, 명사가 오면 동격이다.
